- Flores Canton
Flores is the name of the eighth canton in the province of Heredia in
Costa Rica . The canton covers an area of 6.96 km² [Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), 2001.] , and has a population of 16,036 [Estimates of Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos (INEC), May 2003.] . The capital city of the canton is San Joaquín.The compact canton is located between the provincial capital cities of
Alajuela andHeredia , with the Río Segundo (Second River) forming the northwestern boundary and the Río Burío establishing the canton's southwestern border.The canton of Flores is subdivided into 3 distritos (districts).
