The Grand Prix de la Marne was a
Grand Prix motor racing event staged at theReims-Gueux racecourse, near the city ofReims in theMarne département of north-eastFrance . First held in 1925, it proved to be one of the fastest road races inEurope . The race first served as theFrench Grand Prix in 1932 and for many years was one of the most prestigious events in racing, including during theFormula One years.After the end of
World War II , the French Grand Prix returned to the Reims track for the F1|1950 and F1|1951 seasons. The track underwent major renovations in 1952 and the French Grand Prix was held on the new layout in 1953-1956, 1958-1961, 1963 and 1966. However, economics killed the Grand Prix de la Marne and the last race, held in 1969, was aFormula Two event.Winners of the Grand Prix de la Marne
