IT information anddownload service website before 2000.Joyo was found by
Kingsoft in August, 1998, and Joyo.com became a website in February, 1999.In that time, Joyo only had 5 employee. But in half year, it became the 33th Chinese website, and publish a CD for
software .Online bookstore
Kingsoft decided to make Joyo.com into a
online bookstore in 1999, for get some profits fromInternet .Joyo.com stopped to provide download service and IT information in 2000, new online bookstore website released at the same time.
Joyo was only provide the online bookstore service in
Beijing at first. In December, Joyo started to provide service inShanghai . And April, 2003, started to provide service inGuangzhou .In the same month, Joyo.com declared turning profitable. In September, Joyo got 52$ million investment from
Tiger Management . Thence, Joyo started to sell commodity.Amazon
Amazon.com took over Joyo with 75$ million on August 19th, 2004. Became 7th regional website of Amazon.com after U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Great Britain.
On
June 5 ,2007 , "joyo.com" was renamed to "amazon.cn", and its Chinese name was switched from "卓越网" to "卓越亚马逊".External links
