USS "Nucleus" (AM-268) was an to
Navassa Island . Detached8 February , the minesweeper continued on toPanama for further routing on toCold Bay, Alaska . Arriving at the latter port on3 April , "Nucleus" conducted local exercises and trained personnel of the Navy of theUSSR until20 May .Transfer to the Soviet Union
She then decommissioned and was transferred, with identification number "T-276", under
Lend-Lease to the USSR. On7 February 1955 , she was redesignated MSF-268. As of|1970, she had been neither returned nor purchased by the USSR. Her ultimate fate is unknown.References
