Delegate Lafferty was born in
Washington, D.C . on February 28, 1949. He attended theUniversity of Maryland, College Park where he earned his B.A. in american studies in 1971. Just a year later atBowling Green State University , he earned a M.A. also in american studies; and then a teacher's certificate at Towson State University in 1977. Teacher (mathematics & social studies), Baltimore City Public Schools, 1974-78. Executive director & assistant director, Baltimore American Indian Center, Inc., 1978-80. University of Baltimore School of Law, J.D., 1983. Admitted to Maryland Bar, 1983.In the legislature
Lafferty has been a member of House of Delegates since January 10, 2007. He serves on the House Environmental Matters Committee and its housing & real property, its land use & ethics and its local government & bi-county subcommittees.
