Hikaru Amano

Hikaru Amano

Hikaru Amano is a fictional character from the "Martian Successor Nadesico" anime series. A very bubbly and energetic young girl, Hikaru Amano is the third and youngest Aestivalis pilot aboard the high mobile battleship Nadesico. Her Custom Zero-G Aestivalis is orange.

Description

Hikaru loves to tell people about herself. When introduced to the Nadesico's crew, she starts off by stating, in high tempo, that she's eighteen years old, a self-proclaimed manga artist, has blood type B, and likes pizza crusts and soggy rice cakes. She can be as playful as Megumi at times, yet at some point in the series she reveals a more serious side of herself.

Along with Izumi, Hikaru loves to tease Ryoko about having a crush on Akito. The pair do it to excess, often incurring the wrath of their friend.

She also has a talent for making models, which she practiced together with the ship's chief mechanic Uribatake. In the episode this is shown, she also reveals that she once had a relationship with a guy and he dumped her, which is why she doesn't have any real interest in real-world romances, or any interest in Akito. One could be led to believe that she thought he was 'the one' for her. It's really the only time we see Hikaru show a serious and painful side to her personality.

History

Hikaru joined the Nadesico along with Ryoko and Izumi right after the Satsuki Midori 2 space colony was attacked by the Jovians. She is a rabid Gekigangar III fan and one day wants to publish her own manga about the series with herself as the lead female.

During "" it is shown that Hikaru becomes an actual manga artist, but is overstressed due to her profession.
