- Joseph Massart
Lambert Joseph Massart (
July 19 ,1811 –February 13 ,1892 ) was a Belgianviolinist .He was born in Liège, Belgium. Despite being sponsored by the king, he was not accepted at the
Paris Conservatoire . He became a private pupil ofRodolphe Kreutzer . Nevertheless, he was accepted as a Professeur at the Paris Conservatoire in 1843, where he subsequently taught for 47 years.He performed Beethoven's "Kreutzer Sonata" with
Liszt .Among his students were
Fritz Kreisler ,Eugène Ysaÿe ,Henryk Wieniawski ,Isidor Lotto ,Teresina Tua , andCharles Martin Loeffler .Massart has been credited with the origination of the systematic vibrato.
