The men's 200 metre backstroke swimming event at the 2007 Pan American Games was contested at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 18 July and 19 July. The event was won by Thiago Pereira of Brazil.
Two first round semifinals were raced, with a total of 15 swimmers. The fastest eight swimmers advanced to the final.
