Delta blues is one of the earliest styles ofblues music . It originated in theMississippi Delta , a region of theUnited States that stretches fromMemphis, Tennessee in the north toVicksburg, Mississippi in the south, theMississippi River on the west to theYazoo River on the east. The Mississippi Delta area is famous both for its fertile soil and its extreme poverty.Guitar andharmonica are the dominant instruments used.
