USS Pirate

USS "Pirate" has been the name of more than one ship in the United States Navy.

*USS "Pirate" (SP-229) was built by A. Craven Construction Co., Charleston, South Carolina, in 1916; acquired by the Navy by charter from A. Halsey 5 September 1917; and placed in service on that date. During World War I, "Pirate" patrolled Atlantic shores. After wartime service, the motorboat was returned to her owner 26 December 1918.

*USS "Pirate" (AM-275) was laid down 1 July 1943 by Gulf Shipbuilding Co., Chickasaw, Alabama and launched 16 December 1943.
