Philip Robert Kiriakis (born onscreen February 21, 1995) is a character on the American soap opera "Days of our Lives" He has been portrayed most recently by Jay Kenneth Johnson and previously by Kyle Brandt.

Born onscreen February 21, 1995, Philip was SORASed from age 4 to age 15. Originally, a record for "Days of our Lives", that was broken by EJ Wells who was aged from what would have been 9 to approximately 30. The rapidly aged Philip first appeared in Salem played by Brandon Tyler in 1999. He was quickly replaced by Jay Kenneth Johnson, who was in the role until he decided to leave the show in December 2002. Philip returned in 2003 but was then played by Kyle Brandt. After Brandt left the show in October 2006, Jay Kenneth Johnson returned to the role in January 2007.

Character history

Philip entered the world in an unusual way. Unable to get pregnant, Kate went to the doctor's office to be implanted with Victor's sperm. The fertilized egg ended up in Vivian Alamain instead, and Vivian actually carried Philip to term, trying to get Victor for herself.

The next thing we knew, Philip was in high school, and was hanging out with fellow rich brats Jan Spears and Jason Welles. The three made a point of torturing new girl Chloe Lane, until Philip got a chance to see a different side of her, and fell in love. The relationship hit a snag when she falsely accused him of rape, and another snag when he dumped her after nude photos of her appeared at the Last Blast dance.

Philip was never able to get things going with Chloe again, and when he realized that she had found new love with Brady Black, he left Salem to join the military. He wasn't gone long though...he came back to town as part of the Love is Blind contest (he was the mystery hunk), and re-developed a crush on his good friend Belle Black.

Philip was more than just Shawn and Belle's high school chum though. In addition to being a dedicated military cadet, he was also secretly working for a worldwide intelligence agency developed for the show called the International Security Agency (or the ISA). He and TEK, a newcomer to town, worked hard to prove that Andre DiMera, posing as his cousin, Tony DiMera, was involved in some nefarious dealings around town. Not only that, but Philip let his mother bully him into spending more time with Belle, whom by this point he was hopelessly in love with.

Philip and Belle got engaged, with Philip thrilled that he and Belle were going to be able to live their lives together. Unfortunately, just as they were getting engaged, Philip was being called to active duty in Iraq. The two moved up their wedding plans, getting married immediately before Philip had to ship out.

Even though she had married Philip, Belle was still in love with Shawn-Douglas Brady, but she realized she could not leave Philip, after he lost his leg in Iraq. When Belle became pregnant, she thought the child was Philip's and they were both thrilled to be starting a family together. Nine months later baby Claire was born. Philip adored his daughter so much, that he wanted to have more children with Belle. They decided to undergo in vitro fertilization but alas Salem style, there was a mixup and Belle became pregnant with Shawn's child while Philip was expecting a baby with Mimi.

It was later revealed that Shawn was the true father of Claire. Philip couldn't take it; he blew up and ran out of the house with Claire vowing no one would take her away from him. Phillip later changed his attitude and vowed to be there for his wife, her daughter Claire, and her unborn child, even though he was not the biological father of either of the children. Philip and Mimi still had to make decisions about their baby, and the two signed their rights away to the surrogate. Philip and Belle eventually decided to end their marriage as they both knew they felt differently about each other. Heartbroken, Philip left Salem.

Unbeknown to everyone, Philip returned to Salem. However, he was badly burned and covered in bandages, reportedly due to an attack in Afghanistan. Philip had reenlisted, but due to his injuries, he was brought home by his father Victor. With extensive damage done to his face, Victor hired a doctor to give Philip an experimental face transplant. Until then, Victor had been secretly bringing Claire in to spend time with him. Although Philip has legal custody of Claire, after Victor paid off the judge, Shawn and Belle took Claire and fled to Canada. It wasn't too long before Victor determined that they were in Toronto and sent Philip and Willow after them. There was a setback at the airport when a knife was hidden in Philip's luggage but he eventually made it to Canada where he was able to confront Shawn. Shawn was arrested for Claire's kidnapping. Philip told him that he was granted full legal custody of Claire because of the events of the kidnapping. He went to the shelter where Belle and Claire were hiding but Belle managed to sneak Claire out.

Philip has currently gone to more evil ways and for several months apparently forgot that he, Belle and Shawn were previously friends. He blamed them for everything that happened in the time he was away from Salem. At one point, Philip even had someone try and kill Shawn on the island Tinda Lau and worked with the Dimeras. He later kidnapped Claire and Belle and sailed into a storm. Shawn arrived on the boat by help of Steve and Bo and attempted to turn the boat around and head to safety. During this time, the boat's motor blew out and left Shawn, Belle, Claire, and Philip stranded in the storm. Realizing that the future looked grim, the past was put aside and Shawn and Philip came to terms with their situation and decided to share custody of Claire if they ever got back to Salem. Belle was overjoyed to see the two agree to be friends but this was short lived however as a wave ripped the boat apart. Philip was able to grab Claire when this happened but another wave washed her away. Phillip and Shawn were devastated, believing that Claire was dead. They cried in each other's arms with Belle watching nearby, shaking.

He, Shawn, and Belle made it back to Salem where she had a dream from John that Claire was still alive. Philip has now hired an investigator to find Claire and convinced Willow to take it easy on Shawn, the father of her baby. He told Belle that he would rather Shawn not know that he had done this; however. Willow had agreed to take it easy on Shawn but told him that Philip is not his friend, planting seeds of doubt in his mind about the authenticity of Phillip's friendship. It was suggested by Willow that Phillip was doing all this to get Belle back, which he denied. Shawn also believed that Philip was after Belle when he offered to have Shawn and Belle move into the manor until Claire was found. Belle was in favor of the idea, reasoning that if they were all under one roof they would be able to find Claire faster. Shawn, though, was unsure, partly because of what Willow said. Belle finally convinced Shawn to go along with it, but he remained suspicious of Philip and his offer.

Sometime later, seduced by Philip, Belle and Philip had a brief affair, uncovered by Hope who forced Belle to admit the affair to Shawn. After some rocky times, Shawn forgave her the affair. They are currently on a cruise around the world, having mended fences with Philip.

Soon afterward, Philip turned his attentions toward destroying his business rival, John Black, whom he tried to frame for running drugs in Salem. On the romantic front, he is seeing--as a "friend with benefits"--his old flame, Chloe Lane, who returned to Salem, divorced from Brady Black.

Once Morgan Hollingsworth's father had disappeared Philip was there for her whenever she needed him. While comforting her during this horrible time he was being set up for the murder of Paul Hollingsworth by John Black with the help of Ava Vitali. Morgan had suspicions of John Black and one day decided to confront him about her fathers disappearance. After threatening to kill him Morgan reached into her purse and one of Avas goons pulled out a gun. While seeing this Philip jumped in front of the bullet saving Morgan's life and risking his own. While in the hospital unconscious Morgan told philip she had been falling in love with him. After waking up and talking to morgan he told her he had heard everything she had said to him that day. He then asked whether she meant what she said, and when she asked if he had meant it he told her yes starting a new relationship for Morgan and Philip. During this time it had been revealed Morgans father was actually alive and being held by John Black.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Philip decides to tell Morgan the truth about the threat he made to Paul, saying that if Paul didn't do what Philip wanted, Philip would kill him. Morgan is infuriated and slaps Philip and storms out. Kate tells Philip as he is going after Morgan that she and Victor will protect him if he is implicated in Paul Hollingsworth's "disappearance." which is now being further investigated now that Bo Brady is to be questioned about the missing evidence and cover-up in the Hollingsworth investigation.
