Ayala, located at the western portion of Zamboanga, is a progressive barrio/barangay of the city. It houses major canning factories, among them is Universal Canning Corporation. The sardine industry in this barrio makes Zamboanga the sardines capital of the Philippines. Our Lady of Mount Carmel is the barrio's parish patroness celebrated every 16th of July.
