Gary York

Gary York is a singer/songwriter, record producer and studio owner living in Tyler, Texas. He was born in 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to an Army family.

He went on to join the Army and serve a year in Viet Nam. After that, while stationed in Germany, he joined the growing antiwar movement. Going AWOL he went to New York City where he met John Lennon and David Peele playing guitar in Washington Square Park and joined the Youth International Party YIPPIE. He went to Austin, Texas to join the war protests there and met John Denver who took him under his wing and shaped his music from raw Bob Dylan imitation to a unique songwriting style that bridged generations with the message of love, peace and truth.

Over the years he worked in the studio and on tour with many artists including Steve Miller Leon Russell Willie Nelson Conway Twitty Jerry Jeff Walker B.W.Stevenson and many others. In the 1980s he became an ordained minister and worked full time in ministry until 2002 when the break up of his marriage made him question his motives and values.

Since then he has continued to produce a variety of songs, from driving rock to pure country, he refuses labels and typecasting which keeps him with a "cult following" of fans from all around the world. Since who knows when he has used the AKA "Audiogonzo" exciting the rumor he is the love child of Hunter S. Thompson and his rambling blogs fuel the flames of true hippieness. His last known public performance was New Years Eve 2008 at the home of songwriting legend Freddy Powers at a jam session featuring Austin Texas finest pickers. He has been called the most refreshing talent around and his concept album "Heaven Sent to me" is called by many the best head music since Pink Floyds "Dark Side of the Moon" album.
