country music band formed in 2001 and comprised of six members brought together from successful solo careers to record and perform as one group. The Front Porch Country Band first gained exposure during the summer of 2001. While in the final stages of completing their debut
album , ameteor landed in a field near theirrecording studio . This event inspired the song, "Hot Rock Came to the Country" which was written, arranged, recorded, packaged, and delivered to radio stations less than 72 hours after the meteor's initial impact. The song gained regional popularity through radio play.MP3.com
The Front Porch Country Band gained international acclaim on the
MP3.com internet music community. The band attained multiple number one rankings on a variety of charts. Before MP3.com went dark in December 2003, The Front Porch Country Band had eclipsed one million plays worldwide and become the most listened to country recording artists in the world on the site.China
The Front Porch Country Band's exposure online led to a planned world tour of
China at the invitation of The U.S.-China Foundation in late 2003. The band toured China as headlining performers for weeks funded by the China Performing Arts Agency.References
