GIET Gunupur

Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) is one of the most noted engineering colleges in the state of Orissa. It was established in the year 1996.Now it is deemed university. It admits students based on the rank of IIT- JEE(from1-800 AIR). It has 9 departments of Engineering sciences with more than 13,500 students. Both Bachelors and Masters level degrees are undertaken. It also has an MCA, MBA and a Bio Tech division, all on the same massive campus. The total student strength is close to 14,500. .....

All buildings on campus are aesthetically well appointed and laid out. The quality of the education in the college is not up to international standards but is better enough compared to most other private engineering institutes in India. The institute runs more than 20 massive hostels for men and women, both on and off campus, with a total capacity of about 2000, and is the only institute in the state to provide accommodation on such a large scale. It houses a well-maintained national standard 6-lane swimming pool on campus among all other facilities such as a Sports Complex, a Gym, a Music Club and an open-air theater.

The indian gov. take dicission to make it IIT-gunupur and aimed to make it's world rank one engg. institute withwin 5 years. The institute is going from strength to strength every passing year. Now in its 11th year, it is one of the most reputed colleges in the state and has a real mix of students from every corner of the country as well as a fair number of foreign students.

Overall, it's a mixed bag and a good learning experience at all levels here.Most importantly,it has a wide range of faculties-both national as well as international.
