side project of theindustrial metal band Ministry, which featuredIan MacKaye on vocals, formerly ofThe Teen Idles andMinor Threat , and currently ofFugazi andThe Evens . The band's sound was a dark combination of menacing industrial beats andhardcore punk , predating what Ministry would later do withJello Biafra in Lard.Considering MacKaye's inadvertent role in the establishment of the
straight edge community andPaul Barker andAl Jourgensen 's legendary drug use, it was highly unexpected for them to collaborate.Pailhead released two records in 1988, their only year as an active band, which were the single "No Bunny"/"I Will Refuse" (released in both 7" and 12" formats) and the 4-song EP "Trait", both on the
Wax Trax label. The CD edition of "Trait" also incorporates both sides of the "No Bunny"/"I Will Refuse" single.# "Man Should Surrender"

* The drummer for the Pailhead studio tracks was Eric Spicer ofNaked Raygun .
