Olympic medal record Men's Football Silver 1924 Paris Team Competition Max "Xam" Abegglen (11 April 1902 – 25 August 1970) was a Swiss football player.
He played for the Swiss national team and was the joint leading goalscorer for the team with 34 goals scored in 68 international appearances, along with Kubilay Turkyilmaz who scored also 34 goals in 62 matches for Switzerland. Since May 30, 2008, Alexander Frei is the new leading goalscorer for the team with 35 goals scored.[1]
He was also a member of the Swiss team, which won the silver medal in the football tournament at the 1924 Summer Olympics.
Neuchâtel Xamax, Swiss Super League members are named after him[2].
He is the brother of André 'Trello' Abegglen and Jean Abegglen, both players of the Swiss national team.
