Ross Johnson (politician)

James Ross Johnson (born September 28 1939) is a United States political figure who is chairman of the California Fair Political Practices Commission, was a long-time California State Legislator, and was the first person ever to serve as a party leader in both houses of the legislature. He served in the California State Assembly from Orange County from 1978 until he resigned in 1995 to take a State Senate seat. He served in the Senate from 1995 until 2004 when he was term limited.
