The seven runners who were continuing were declared as non finishers and are recorded as distanced. They were, in order, Boxkeeper, Ceremony, Peter Swift, the Stranger, Nimrod, Brilliant and The Romp. Of the four runners who failed to complete the course The Page had refused and Brenda ran out on the first circuit while Vanguard was pulled up at
Becher's Brook second time and Clansman fell fatally at the Canal Turn. The winning owner and rider was William loft from
Healing nearGrimsby , although he leased the ownership of the horse to Mr Stirling Crawford for theGrand National . Loft also officially trained the horse as well but this duty was more likely handled byChristopher Crisp , known as Kitty. Crisp actually walked every step of the road from Grimsby toLiverpool with the horse and after their victory they returned home the same way.The race was run in a new record time of ten minutes, forty-seven seconds while
