USS "Clamour" (AM-160) was an
Admirable-class minesweeper built for theU.S. Navy duringWorld War II . She was built to clear minefields in offshore waters, and served the Navy in thePacific Ocean .She was launched
24 December 1942 byWillamette Iron and Steel Works ,Portland, Oregon ; commissioned14 March 1944 , Lieutenant Commander D. N. Lott,USNR , in command; and reported to theU.S. Pacific Fleet .World War II Pacific Ocean operations
"Clamour" arrived at
Pearl Harbor 22 May 1944 , and made two voyages asconvoy escort toKwajalein andEniwetok between that time and11 September , when she cleared Pearl Harbor for continued escort duty based at Eniwetok. She guarded convoys to theMarianas , addingUlithi to her ports of call in November,Tarawa , andMajuro in May 1945, andIwo Jima in June. She sailed fromEniwetok for the last time10 August , bound for overhaul atBremerton, Washington .Post-War Decommissioning
On
13 January 1946 , she arrived atSan Diego, California , where she was decommissioned12 June 1946 , and placed in reserve. On7 February 1955 she was reclassified MSF-160. She was scrapped in 1959.References
