USS "Candid" (AM-154) was an built for the

"Candid" sailed from
San Francisco, California on28 February 1944 for duty inAlaska n waters. Called upon to escortconvoy s and conduct patrols as well as to sweep for mines she sailed through stormy waters to fog-boundAleutian ports, supportingU.S. Army units on the isolated islands and backing up naval attacks on theKurile Islands of northernJapan . She returned to San Francisco18 August , and two weeks later got underway for theMarshall Islands for operations there and in the Marianas providing essential local escort services as the consolidation of these islands and their development as bases for naval and air strikes against the Japanese continued.Transfer to the Soviet Navy
On
16 April 1945 , she cleared forSeattle, Washington , and an overhaul, after which she sailed toCold Bay, Alaska , to train Russian seamen. "Candid" was decommissioned16 August 1946 and transferred to theUSSR under lend-lease the next day. It is believed that the ship was scrapped by the Soviets in 1956. She was struck from the USNaval Vessel Register on1 January 1983 .References
