The Virginia Tech Foundation (VTF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit nonstock corporation established in 1948 to receive, manage, and disburse private gifts in support of
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University programs. It's board includes the Rector of the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors, the president of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, the president of the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund, and the president of the University shall be members of the Foundation board along with alumni and friends of the university.The foundation recently took on the task of disbursing funds from the [http://www.vt.edu/fund/index.php Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund] to those affected by the April 16, 2007 shooting spree on campus.
