History

Throughout the 1990s, WWBU was WRIQ-FM CD Country. In January 1999, new ownership changed the format to a somewhat antiquated format known as M.O.R. (Middle of the Road) and called it The Box. After two years and minimal success, WRIQ was changed to WWBU-FM Bubba Country, a classic country music format. After two more years of more mediocre success, WWBU adopted a News/Talk format. In August of 2008, SuperTalk became SuperSports 101.7, (though the call letters WWBU were never changed despite that they were short for "BUbba country").
