- Huamanga Cathedral
The Huamanga Cathedral is located in the "Plaza de Armas" of
Huamanga ,Ayacucho ,Peru . Its architecture is Baroque renaissancetist. It is built with pink stone in the center and gray stone in the towers. Erected in 1612, it is considered one of the most beautifulcathedrals in Peru, especially for its interiors decorated with aChurrigueresque style.The city of
Huamanga has 33 Catholic churches, which makes it a very interesting religious destination for Christians. Each of those temples (the oldest was built in 1540) has some relic, art piece or legend. TheSanto Domingo Temple , built in 1548 and theSan Francisco de Paula church, built in 1713, show the evolution of style and taste of its builders. The Santo Domingo Temple has Romanesque andByzantine arcs. The San Francisco de Asis church has Greco-Roman facades with raised images.
