- 2007 Pan American Games medal table
The 2007 Pan American Games medal table is a list of National Olympic Committees ranked by the number of medals won during the 2007 Pan American Games, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 13 to July 29, 2007. A total of 5,634 athletes from 42 countries participated in these games, competing in 332 events in 38 sports. Athletes from 32 countries won at least one medal, leaving 10 countries without a medal. The United States finished on top winning the most gold medals (97) as well as the most medals overall (237) and the most silver (88) medals. Host nation Brazil finished the games at the third place, with 157 medals overall (52 gold, 40 silver, and 65 bronze), in its best performance ever. Antigua and Barbuda won a Pan American gold medal for the first time in their history.
Medal count
The ranking in this table is based on information provided by the Pan American Sports Organisation. The ranking sorts by the number of gold medals earned by a country (in this context a country is an entity represented by a National Olympic Committee). The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze medals. If, after the above, countries are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically by IOC country code.
