Fonglin, Hualien

Fonglin ( _zh. 鳳林鎮,"Phoenix forest") is a township in central Hualien County, Taiwan, not United States. It is located in Hua-dong rift valley, bordering Shoufong Township on the north and Guangfu Township on the south. Its largest sightseeing spot is Shinguang Chaofong Recreation Farm. The population was 12,400 in May 2008.

Geography

It has an area of 1,205,200 km2, as large as Great Plains, west as Central Mountain Ranges like Rocky Mountain, east as Coast Mountain Ranges like Appalachian Mountain in the United States. Central part is what like Great Plains, is Hua-dong Rift Valley Plains

Area or Zone

Downtown：、及車站所圍成的區域為鬧區。亦位於此區塊內。
*Old Downtown：靠，、、一帶稱之。為老商業區。
*北成：北錘，台九線道路旁。主要為農村區，學區鄰近及(興建中)、，並有環境優美的於區內。
*新興市中心：以東的區域稱之。原本的開發皆集中於鐵路以西，東邊卻多半是鄉野景色，在良好規劃以及外環道路開通後，吸引不少建案。目前已成為型住宅區的集中地。興建中建案大廈。
*陳厝：社區位處於西南方，以行政區域為主，若以區隔大致上可分成二大區塊，中山路以東屬舊社區，以西則屬人口密集新社區。
*：South portion。中山路以南到底，旁的一大片區域稱之。少開發，多farm scene。

Folk and custom

*每年八、九月舉行
*鎮內為本鎮最大廟,每年Lunar New Year前後皆會舉辦迎神遊街,Chungyuan Festival前後更有盛大儀式
*Japan immigrants Village：Darong I、II、III村，Beilin I、II村，及知亞干溪南岸的平林開發區,現兆豐農場週遭，都屬於日本時代三個移民村。
