Ignacio Loyola Vera (born 10 September 1954 in
Santiago de Querétaro , Qro.) is aMexican politician. He served asGovernor of Querétaro from 1 October 1997 to 30 September 2003. Later, Federal Attorney of Environmental Protection (PROFEPA), 2006 - 2008. Member of the National Action Party. He obtained a B.Sc. inAgricultural Engineering and Zootechnology at theITESM .With no previous experience in politics, he was candidate to the governorship of Querétaro in 1997. In a surprising victory he defeated
Fernando Ortiz Arana (Institutional Revolutionary Party , PRI). During his term he was very criticized, even by his own party members, for his unfortunate quotes on several subjects, including torture, espionage and the governor's salary (the highest in the country). He approved the construction of the new international airport, which began in 2002 and was inaugurated in 2004 by his succesor.His career
