Robin Day (designer)

Robin Day FCSD (born May 25, 1915) is a British furniture designer.

Day is best known for his injection moulded Polyprop stacking chair, of which over 20 million have been manufactured. It was one of the first pieces of furniture to fully use the mass-manufacturing opportunities of injection moulding.

He rose to prominence during the 1951 Festival of Britain.

He is a past winner of the Chartered Society of Designers's Minerva Medal, the highest accolade the Society can offer and is awarded for a lifetime achievement in the field of design.

His wife Lucienne Day (born 1917) is a noted textile designer.

Robin and Lucienne Day are Britain’s most celebrated designer couple of the post-war era, and are often compared to their US contemporaries, Charles Eames and Ray Eames.
