John A. English

John A. English

John A. English is a former Canadian soldier and a military historian.

A native of Alberta, English served with the Calgary Highlanders regiment, eventually being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He was educated at Royal Roads, the Royal Military College, Duke University and Queen's University. He has been a professor of strategy at the U.S. Naval War College.

English has authored several books on the Canadian military, all receiving critical praise.
