Bedros Tourian

Bedros Tourian

Bedros Tourian or Petros Duryan (Armenian: in TAO Պետրոս Դուրեան, in RAO Պետրոս Դուրյան) (1851-1872) was a famous Western Armenian poet, playwright and actor.

He was born to a poor family. His father was a struggling blacksmith in Istanbul. Tourian graduated from the Üsküdar seminary in 1867. From 1869–1871 he published some of his poems in Armenian newspapers such as "Meghu", "Eprat" and "Mamoul".

Tourian died of tuberculosis at the age of 21.
