The Church of God in Christ, Incorporated (COGIC) is a Pentecostal body, the largest Pentecostal Christian church in the United States.^{[citation needed]}

Church History

The church was founded on Tudor Ave in East St. Louis, Illinois, by Elder James Heard, Jr. It moved to Falling Springs Road in Cahokia, Illinois, in 1991. After 11 years of pastoring, Heard died on June 25, 2000, and was replaced by his son ,James Heard III, who has continued his father's work with the assistance of Pastor Jacques Hughes.

In December 2001, Pastor Heard acquired a new church facility on Fourth Street in Cahokia. The church was completely remodeled with most of the work being performed by the church members.

In August 2005, the church^{[clarification needed]} was demolished by fire necessitating a move to Mississippi Avenue. Construction has also begun on a future church on State Route 3, also in Cahokia.
