The Village Players

The Village Players is a Sydney based theatre company in Australia, founded in 1975 by Peter Marsh. Their performances range from Drama, Comedy, Pantomime, Musical, Dance, to experimental works. The main purposes of the group are staging new Australian plays, fostering new talent and education.

The Village Players have affiliations with The Centenary Theatre Group Inc, The Intrepid Traveling Troupe and The Village Theatre.

The School Tour Educational Department visits schools to perform both classic the contemporary plays.

The group performs all over Australia. A great number of successful Australian producers, performers, directors, writers and crew specialties have all worked through the group making it a familiar name in both the experimental and mainstream theatre industry.

The Village Players are based at Clontarf Cottage, a fully restored, heritage listed landmark in Sydney, Australia. Since its renovation it has become the hub for artists in the Balmain/Glebe area. The space is constantly booked for plays, events, guided walks, exhibitions, and discussions. Being central to the city of Sydney but in a quiet location near the harbor, Balmain is a highly sought after area to live in Sydney.

Well known personalities and celebrities are among the tenants living on the shore line. Balmain's main street is crowded with trendy bars and restaurants. Clontarf Cottage continues to play a vital role in Balmain's culture and adds significantly to the artistic lifestyle of this busy suburb.
