- Isle of Wight Zoo
The Isle of Wight Zoo also known as the I.O.W Tiger and Lemur sanctuary, is housed inside a fort on the coastline of Sandown, it is now home to biggest collection of tigers in the United Kingdom.
Past
It was originally known as the Sandown Zoo, and was established in the 1950s. It fell into disrepair and disrepute in the 1970s. In 1976 it was taken over by a private owner and over the following years rebuilt as an now famous sanctuary for big cats and primates.

The sanctuary is currently home to over 20

africa n jeep and rock formations designed to stimulate and exersize the animals.In recent years, three
india n themed tigerenclosure s have opened featuring glass viewing panels, ponds, natural planting and various statues and temples.Primates
The sanctuary specalises in lemurs including ring-tailed, black and white ruffed, black, white fronted and mongoose lemurs, several of which have bred in recent years.

Housed inside a pitch black building is a collections of snakes, lizards and spiders housed in various themed vivariums built to replicate the animals natural habitat.
Filming
The zoo has been the main filming location for the ITV Meridian television programme entitled "Tiger Island". Which shows different aspects of zoo life, including making enrichment toys and designing new enclosures
