History
In 2000 Luna Halo, fronted by former Reality Check front man Nathan Barlowe, released their debut CD "Shimmer" on Christian music label
Sparrow Records . Although "Shimmer" was praised by critics, Luna Halo left Sparrow Records and the Christian music industry behind before recording their next album due to creative differences. The current grittier version of Luna Halo is an entire new band from the earlier version of Luna Halo, and although several of the band members are Christian they have left the 'Christian band' moniker behind. Nate Barlowe is quoted as saying they only kept the name because he liked it so much. Nathan's brother Cary Barlowe replaced guitarist Johnny MacIntosh, Aaron Jenkins replaced bassist Brad Minor, and drummer Chris Coleman replaced Jonathan Smith, completing the lineup for the new Luna Halo. In September 2002, Luna Halo started over and released a self-titled EP and continued touring heavily pursuing a better record label.
Rumors of an imminent Major label deal began to surface in 2004, and a deal with Dreamworks [ [http://media.www.fsunews.com/media/storage/paper920/news/2004/01/19/ArtsAndEntertainment/Luna-Halo.Brings.Heavenly.Rock-2360578.shtml Luna Halo brings heavenly rock - Arts and Entertainment ] ] , was announced, but later fell through during negotiations. The band released another EP, "Wasting Away" (originally recorded as a demo for Dreamworks) and toured with artists
Velvet Revolver ,Hoobastank ,Collective Soul ,Ours ,Needtobreathe andFamily Force 5 .American Recordings
In 2005, Luna Halo were signed to American Recordings and began work on their second album, "Luna Halo". Originally scheduled for a Summer 2006 release, the album was plagued with delays. An announced release date of January 23rd passed without the album being released, and the album's release status was changed from "early 2007" to an unspecified time period in 2007. This delay was due to American Recordings owner
Rick Rubin 's departure from Warner Bros to Columbia Records. After months of waiting and speculation, Luna Halo announced on August 11th that Columbia Records have set a firm release date of October 30th 2007 for the album. The album features contributions by former Jellyfish keyboardist Roger Manning Jr., Self's Matt Mahaffey and two songs co-written by former DC Talk singer Kevin Max. The King of Queens " during the final season. The line "the kings and queens" was changed to "the King of Queens" to reflect the title of the show.On June 18th, 2008, the band released a statement stating that drummer Chris Coleman was leaving the band to take a break from music and go back to school.
