London Buses route 97 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. The service is currently contracted to East London.

History

Although today's 97 commenced operation on 19 November 1988 as a daily service between Chingford Station and Leyton (Downsell Road) via Chingford Mount, Walthamstow, Walthamstow Central Station, Bakers Arms and Leyton High Road. It is actually descended from a daily route 97 that commenced operation on 31 January 1981 along with a Monday to Saturday supplementary service 97A.
