Tekin Alp

Marcel Samuel Raphael Cohen (1883-1961), who later changed his name to Munis Tekin Alp, was born to a Jewish family in Salonica under Ottoman control (now Thessaloniki,Greece). He was one of the founding fathers of Turkish nationalism and an ideologue of Pan-Turkism. He was a proponent of minorities within the Turkish Republic "Turk-ifying" themselves, and wrote such in his pamphlet "Türkleştirme" (1928).
