Stanyforth captained England in the four Test matches he played in. They were against South Africa, and he won two, lost one and drew once. However, the series was a draw as in the fifth Test of 1927/8, whenGreville Stevens stood in for Stanyforth was lost.Only three of Stanyforth's 61 first-class games were played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in the
County Championship , and all three came in 1928 after he had captained England. He also appeared for Oxford University (1914),Marylebone Cricket Club (1923-1933), Combined Services (1922), Army (1923-1929),HDG Leveson-Gower's XI (1926) and Free Foresters (1930-1933).External reference
