Ronald A. Rasband

Ronald Anderson Rasband (born February 6, 1951) is a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and since 2005 has been a member of the Presidency of the Seventy of the church.

Rasband was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Rulon Hawkins Rasband and Verda Anderson. He served as a Mormon missionary in the Eastern States Mission. This mission was headquartered in New York City, but at the time not only encompassed the whole New York Metro area but stretched into western New York and Pennsylvania.

After Rasband returned from his mission he married Melanie Twitchell.

Rasband was called as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy in 2000.

Rasband was a member of the committee that planned the pioneer sesquicentennial celebrations done by the church. Prior to his call as a general authority he was the president and Chief Operating Officer of Huntsman Chemical Corporation. In this capacity he worked closely with Jon Huntsman, Sr. In 1996 Rasband was called as a mission president. As mission president he returned to the area where he had served his mission, presiding over the New York New York North Mission, which included not only Manhattan and the Bronx but also stretched upriver to the area of West Point and also included the far western portion of Connecticut. One of his programs was for missionaries to serve as volunteers at Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty to make the missionaries more visible.

While serving as a general authority Rasband has served in several area presidencies. He first served as a counselor in the Europe Central Area Presidency. While serving in this position he dedicated the first chapel the church built in the Czech Republic. [LDS Church News, "LDS Czechs celebrate First hall", Dec. 1, 2001.]

In 2005 Rasband was called as a member of the Presidency of the Seventy. In August 2007 he was placed in charge of overseeing the efforts of the Area Seventies in the Utah North, Utah South, and Utah Salt Lake City Areas of the church.
