The White Towns of
Andalusia , or Pueblos Blancos, are a series oftown s and largevillage s in the northern part of theprovince s of Cádiz and Málaga in southernSpain , mostly within theSierra de Grazalema Natural Park .All of the villages are characterised by
whitewash ed walls and red or browntile droof s.The area has been settled since
prehistoric times, and some of the localcave s have ancientrock painting s. Many cultures have left their mark on the region, but the most influential was that of theMoors . The narrow, winding streets have a distinct, Arabic feel to them, though each village has at least oneRoman Catholic church .The
climate is mild and the surroundingcountryside is green and pleasant.Tourist activities available includehiking ,rock-climbing , pot-holing,cycling ,horseback riding , and just ambling about, enjoyingnature and the local food.The principal towns, villages and other interesting places to visit include:
