El Centro, Seville

El Centro, Seville

El Centro, in the context of Seville, Spain, is a catch-all term used to refer to the large historical center of Seville (the largest of any European city). It is coterminous with a city district "Casco Antiguo", and actually contains many neighborhoods, or parts of neighborhoods. Often these are just a handful of streets around a particular plaza. Some of these are listed below:

* El Arenal
* La Macarena
* La Alameda
* Campana
* Encarnacion
* Alfalfa
* Santa Cruz
* Plaza de Armas
* San Lorenzo

It should be noted that the "Ayuntamiento" (municipal government) has a distinct notion of neighborhood layout than that traditionally possessed by most residents.
