Adolphus P. Nelson

Adolphus Peter Nelson (March 28, 1872 - August 21, 1927) was a U.S. Representative from Wisconsin.

Born in Holmes City, near Alexandria, Minnesota, Nelson attended the public schools and was graduated from Hamline University, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1897.He moved to Grantsburg, Wisconsin, in 1897.He engaged in banking. Regent of the University of Wisconsin-Madison 1906-1919 and president of the board of regents 1916-1920.He served as president of the local school board 1910-1916.He served as mayor of Grantsburg 1914-1916.He served as vice president of the board of trustees of Hamline University 1914-1918.

Nelson was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Irvine L. Lenroot.He was reelected to the Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses and served from November 5, 1918, to March 3, 1923.He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1922.He again engaged in banking in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, until his death in that city August 21, 1927.He was interred in Riverside Cemetery.
