Robert Michael Picciolo (born
February 4 ,1953 , inSanta Monica, California ), is a former professional baseball player who playedshortstop in the Major Leagues from 1977-1985. During his career, he played for theMilwaukee Brewers , California Angels, andOakland Athletics .Picciolo was notorious for not drawing bases on balls. In 1,628 major league at-bats, he only walked 25 times.
Picciolo is the longest-tenured coach in
San Diego Padres history, serving 16 consecutive years between by|1990 and by|2005. He currently works as a minor-league instructor for the Angels.He has two sons, Breton and Dustin Picciolo. Both sons attended
