170-176 John Street is a building erected in 1840 [ [http://www.archiplanet.org/wiki/Hickson_W._Field_Stores Archiplanet entry] ] in lower Manhattan, New York City. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was originally known as the Hickson W. Field building; later, it was used as a ship chandlery and known as the Baker, Carver & Morrell Building. ["AIA Guide to New York City", 4th edition, pg 34]
