University of Minnesota Children's Hospital

University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, Fairview is located on the east and west banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical School. It provides a broad spectrum of pediatric programs and services—ranging from pediatric general surgery, imaging, and neonatal and pediatric intensive care to cardiac and oncology services, and blood, bone marrow, and organ transplantation. Innovative approaches and affiliation with the University of Minnesota have led to several firsts,Fact|date=August 2007 including the first successful pediatric blood marrow transplant,Fact|date=August 2007 infant heart transplant in Minnesota and cochlear ear implant surgery for a child.Fact|date=August 2007

The hospital also is home to Minnesota’s only children's behavioral inpatient unit and programming exclusively devoted to children ages 12 and younger. University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, Fairview features one of the three largest kidney transplant programs in the world specializing in infants and small children.Fact|date=August 2007
