North America nshrew found on theGaspé peninsula ofQuebec , onCape Breton Island inNova Scotia and inNew Brunswick . It is closely related to the somewhat largerLong-tailed Shrew ("Sorex dispar") found in theAppalachian Mountains .It is light grey in colour with a pointed snout and a long tail.
This animal is found in areas with steep rocky slopes near streams.
It eats insects and spiders.
It is thought to breed in the spring and summer.
This species was first described in "A new species of shrew from the Gaspé Peninsula" in no. 109, 1924 of "American Museum Novitates", a publication of the
