- Austro-Daimler 6
The
Austro-Daimler 6 was a 6 cylinderliquid-cooled inline engine first produced in 1910. The Austro-Daimler 6 was unique in that it was designed from the outset to be an aircraft engine. The engine was designed by Dr-Ing Ferdinand Porsche. It is not surprising that the engine was of excellent quality and inspired many imitators such asMercedes D.II ,Benz Bz.IV , Beardmore, andHiero 6 . Aircraft often substituted the Mercedes engines in production due to greater availability.pecifications (Austro-Diamler 6)
