Islands Brygge

Islands Brygge

Islands Brygge is the name of an area in Copenhagen, Denmark, named after the prominent water-side road of the same name. It is located on the north-west part of the Copenhagen island Amager. The area is home to, among other things, the National Board of Health, Statens Serum Institut, the University of Copenhagen Faculty of Humanities, and the first casino in Denmark, located in the Radisson SAS hotel.

The area was earlier known for being a rough neighborhood, because of criminal activity around the habour in the 70's and 80's. Today Islands Brygge has often been referred to as the "Manhattan of Copenhagen", because the area is fast becoming one of the more expensive neighbourhoods to live in.
