- Harry Topham
Harry Gillespie Topham (
February 17 ,1862 —February 28 ,1925 ) was an Englishcricket er. He was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm slow bowler who played for Derbyshire during the 1881 season.Topham was born in
Ladbroke, Warwickshire the son of a reverend. He was educated atRepton School , and became a member of their cricketing eleven between 1878 and 1881. He made his debut in First Class cricket for Derbyshire in August 1881, but did not appear again for the county. He went toJesus College, Cambridge , and played fifteen games for Cambridge University. After University, Topham took Holy Orders and became curate of a church in Greenwich, moving to four further churches before becoming rector ofMiddleham ,Yorkshire in 1903, where he remained until his death.Topham's best bowling figures during his career were 7-62, achieving one ten-wicket match during his first-class career.
Topham married Edith Coore in 1907 and had two daughters. He died at Middleham at the age of 63.
