The European Owl Moth (Acanthobrahmaea europaea) is a lepidoptera from the family Brahmaeidae, the brahmin moths.

The wingspan of the moth ranges from 65 to 80 millimeter.

The moth can only be found in the South of Italy. Their habitat consists of woods of leaf bearing treas in mountainous areas at a height of 250 to 850 metres. The "Acanthobrahmaea europaea" is active at dusk and at night.

During the early flight time (March and April), the moths even fly with temperatures as low as the freezing point. The eggs hatch at the end of March and April. The caterpillars fee don plants from the genera Ligustrum and Fraxinus.
