July 3 ,2007 , Madine was given a squad number of number 30 at Carlisle United (this was changed to 28 later in the season) and is expected to challenge for a first team place during the 2007–08 season. Gary Madine scored his first ever league goal against Yeovil Town on the 30th of August 2008, in a resounding 4-1 Carlisle win in which fellow striker Danny Graham bagged a hat-trick.
